This piece served as a study in working with hardwood and acrylic tape. I chose to use Japanese zelkova (*keyaki*), a wood relatively easy to source from timber merchants across the country. Given that zelkova is frequently used in architecture and furniture in large, thick slabs, I adopted a design featuring edge-joined side panels. However, to avoid excessive weight, I minimized the number of cross-rails at the front and positioned the backrest low, thereby striking a balance between weight and structural integrity.

広葉樹、アクリルテープを扱うための習作。比較的全国の材木屋で入手可能な欅を用いることにした。欅は建築や家具において大判かつ厚手で用いられることが多いことから、側面の接ぎ板のデザインになった。一方で重量が重くなり過ぎることを危惧し、正面側の貫数は最低限とし、背もたれの位置も低くすることで強度とのバランスを図ってみることにしました。
